How do sister chromatids find each other during metaphase? (Mitosis)?

I suppose going into detail would be extremely difficult considering how infinitesimal cell activity is but if someone knows the summary? Do the chromatids just swirl around in the nucleic membrane until they find their other half? Do certain proteins "tell" the chromatids to line up?
