Is there anyway i can make my car better on gas mileage?

i have a 1997 ford probe 4 cylinder, i just filled the car up monday and i have only drove it 4 times and not very far today is wednesday and im already below half a tank. my dad said if i get a K&N air filter it will help, any suggestions?
