I personally believe this quote in theory, but I'll try to help. Think about the treatment that Boo Radley got before/during/after his trial. Would it have been the same if he were a well educated man? Think too about OJ Simpson. Whether or not he killed his wife, did his money and fame come into play? There was also Gary Glitter who was deported from Vietnam for crimes he committed there. Did his money and fame help him?
